It is with great regret that Lewis Memorial Inc.’s Board of Directors has announced that assisted living, personal care, and independent apartment operations at 2901 Bowling Green Road in Franklin, Kentucky will cease effective February 29, 2024. The grand vision of a premier retirement community to serve our community has given way to the cruel reality of increasing costs and low occupancy since the end of the COVID 19 epidemic. Extensive efforts to improve recruitment and efficiency of Lewis Manor Assisted Living over the past two years have failed to result in the economic viability of the facility. The board has worked diligently to make Lewis Manor financially viable, without success.

The Board of Directors of Lewis Memorial Inc. are deeply grateful to the skilled and conscientious staff that have made Lewis Manor a wonderful residential option for our local retirees. We thank the residents and their families for choosing Lewis Manor and for trying very diligently to recruit others to join them there. We also want to recognize the assistance of Hometown Management Group for their assistance to Lewis Memorial Inc. in our efforts to stay open. It has been impossible to overcome several major setbacks without enough residents to cover expenses.

During the next 30 days, Hometown Management and the staff at Lewis Manor will assist current residents to find other retirement options. The future of the Franklin facility will rest with the major creditor, the US Department of Agriculture Rural Development Authority.
